Scott Macdonald-Patterson

Associate

Scott Macdonald-Patterson is a trade lawyer and project manager, and Associate at WTI Advisors. His primary focus is on international services and investment law: domestic regulation and services chapters of preferential trade agreements in some of the world biggest markets (China, India, United States). He has experience managing different sized teams in carrying out complex projects, including designing methodologies and developing bespoke IT solutions for project delivery.

Scott also has experience providing support for the implementation and analysis of various preferential trade agreements, including the EU-Japan EPA, EU-Canada CETA, and EU-Singapore and EU-Vietnam FTAs: undertaking legal research and analysis; and quantitative and qualitative economic analysis. Additionally, he has taken part in public sector capacity-building support for countries acceding to the World Trade Organization; undertaken research on the EU's Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism; and carried out legal and economic research and analysis of textiles trade between the EU and several North African nations.

Scott holds a master’s degree in International Trade Law and Economics (MIntTr) from Victoria University of Wellington in his home country of New Zealand, and a Bachelor of Laws with honours from the University of York in the United Kingdom. Prior to working for WTI Advisors, he has experience in bio-tech start-ups doing project management and regulatory affairs work; and project work for multiple United Nations agencies.
